Let me say up front that  I am a disabled Veteran,  of the United States Air Force. I believe that all  honors and or services for our service men and women  is not enough.  The support structures for military families are  invaluable to those loved ones  left behind. The organizations that step in to help are just as important as any military job. They help  because they know that the pay is low and the working conditions are the worst in the world. Long isolations from family and friends  can leave scars that have a severe impact on morale. The children and spouses that are left behind are just as vulnerable.

We all need to do a better job in recognizing that when we  fight wars that require the shedding of blood sweat and tears that everyone should be obligated to aid our servicemen in the field, the men in uniform. We must stop calling combat  military actions, it is war and every civilian should be obligated to support the common man doing an uncommon job, and in so doing sacrifice as much by engaging in peace and validation that war is the best and only option. Too often wars are fought and the reasons are forgotten…..

Omar Bradley, American general, 1953 through 1981.

‘The wrong war, at the wrong place, at the wrong time, and with the wrong enemy.

Words spoken at a Senate inquiry regarding General Douglas MacArthur’s proposal to carry the Korean War into China.

Jorge Luis Borges, Argentinean novelist, 1899 – 1986

‘The Falklands thing was a fight between two bald men over a comb’

Neville Chamberlain, British conservative Prime Minister (1869 – 1940)

‘How terrible fantastic, incredible it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas mask here because of a quarrel in a faraway country between people of whom we know nothing’

.

This morning I had another talk with the Germans Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it, as well as mine… We regard the agreement signed last night – and the Anglo – German naval agreement as a symbol of the desire of our two people’s never to go to war with one another again’

My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor.  I believe it is peace for our time.  Go home and get a nice quiet sleep’

Hiram Johnson, American all – party Senator (1866-1945

“First casualty when war comes is truth”

Carl Von Clausewitz Prussian soldier (1780-1831)

“War is nothing but the continuation of politics by other means”

Thoughts on vice

Thoughts on vice

There are Viceroys, Vice-presidents, Vice-chancellors, Vice-consuls but none of these are as known as much as vice. The dictionary has eight definitions of this word, not one of them eludes to a positive habit,… Continue Reading

Liars and their Politics

Liars and their Politics

There are many axioms in the world yet too often when they deal with politics they are facts. A politician in this country needs many things but mostly the following. They have the ability to lie to everyone every time they open their mouths. They attend church and have the audacity to tell others that… Continue Reading

We all become Insane (yes really)

We all become Insane (yes really)

by: Patrick Muldoon I have read many stories and articles that state that if too many rats are forced to live in too little space they without exception begin to show extreme levels of stress, and anxiety that can cause them to begin murdering their young and becoming little lunatics. Our world has over 8… Continue Reading
