There are many axioms in the world yet too often when they deal with politics they are facts. A politician in this country needs many things but mostly the following.
They have the ability to lie to everyone every time they open their mouths. They attend church and have the audacity to tell others that they really work hard for the people. (they never say which people).
They have the chameleon like ability to hide behind committees whenever they are asked about their opinions on any piece of legislation that they were not paid to vote for.
They have wealth and are wealthier than 80 percent of the people they represent. When asked about their income they stress how they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and earned every penny from the sweat of their efforts. They use this to express their bond with the average Joe. They place their children in private school. In this way they lower public school budgets and are not affected.
They have the ability to ignore their constituents unless it involves fund raising or free trips. They tell everyone that they have to raise a lot of money but they swear they owe large donors nothing.
They have the ability to have secret meetings to discuss legislation while telling everyone that “just because they are all public officials meeting in private does not mean they discuss any legislation”.
They stand by their party even if it harms their constituents. When cornered they always use one of the afore mentioned behaviors to refute blame.
You must know how to make it extremely difficult for the other party to register voters and with a straight face tell them it is necessary to prevent fraud, even if there isn’t any.
To view all of these actions, you simply need to follow the North Carolina Legislature.
For further insight to the mindset of a politician read the following quotes.
“Nixon is a shifty-eyed goddamn liar…. He’s one of the few in the history of this country to run for high office talking out of both sides of his mouth at the same time and lying out of both sides”
-Harry Truman (1884-1972)
“I never trust a man unless I’ve got his pecker in my pocket”
-Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973)
“If Abraham Lincoln were alive today he’d be turning in his grave” –Gerald Ford (1913-2006)
The wealthy few only need to convince the largest number of the least informed and least intelligent of the voters to vote for their self-centered, hamstrung, narrowed vision, slack-jawed, two faced, smiling idiot.
“When the president does it, that means it is not illegal”
-Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994)
